Pets and swimming pools don’t usually get along very well, especially if the animal is small and, once inside the pool, cannot get out. To avoid a good scare, in today’s post we tell you how to make a dog ramp in the pool in 7 steps.
Advantages of a dog ramp in the swimming pool
The dog ramp is one of the accessories to consider due to the possibilities it offers to save your pet’s life.
Sometimes it can happen that, through negligence or for fun, they enter the water, and due to their size they cannot even get out. Likewise, it can also help you save other lives such as wild animals or a neighbor’s pets.
Our recommendation is that if you don’t have a winter cover that doubles as a fall arrester, consider installing a dog ramp in your pool.

7. Steps to build a dog ramp
The first step in making a pool dog ramp will be taking the measurements of your pet. Ideally, the ramp should be long enough for you to sit on, and add another 20cm of width for maximum comfort. Using the measurements above, cut the length of the canvas.
Next, we will have to make a PVC frame to support the canvas. With the help of the hacksaw, cut the PVC pipe into two long and two shorter pieces. Also, we will use 90-degree elbows to join all of these tubes together and form the frame of the tarp.
We will form a closed rectangle with the pipes and elbows, except for the top. It will be at this point that we will add the two T-pieces. These T-pieces will be used to give more texture to our dog pool ramp.
Once all the pieces have been cut out, start by gluing them together to form this rectangular frame. Both T-pieces should point straight up.

To complete the structure that will form the dog ramp of our pool, we will add the other two elbow-shaped pieces of PVC, inserting them into the T-pieces. Finally, using a piece of PVC pipe, we will join them.
Attach the piece of canvas you previously cut with zip ties to the structure and add a pool hose to it. If you cut and trim it to the right size, it won’t show when the dog ramp is in the pool and will help them float more.
Finally, use a strong rope to secure the ramp out of the pool and provide your pet with extra security.
